Technology is developing at an unprecedented pace with new iterations and firmware being churned out every day. Although most are critical in keeping systems running smoothly one problem that surfaces is with legacy applications.

Many companies use legacy applications as they are a critical part of their systems and replacing them frequently is not a viable option. Thus, technical architects like Sunil Kumar who works on modernizing legacy applications at Infosys are an important part of solving the legacy application puzzle.

His work includes taking the legacy applications from the mainframe and modernizing them within the mainframe or rehosting them or transforming them into a distributed stack. And he says that IBM tools are an integral part of this process right from start till end.

Whether it is a tool like ADDI to analyze and understand the complexity of a program, or IDC wherein they use devops or RTC for testing, Sunil says, “These tools not only make  it easy for us to complete processes, but also brings up the value for our clients.”
