The real challenge to finding a solution lies in its efficiency. This includes time taken to find a solution, the savings, how it speeds up other processes and much more. And technology today fosters such innovation.

Narayana Reddy Penchikala works as a Data Science Consultant for Artificial Intelligence delivery unit at Infosys, where he works with Artificial Intelligence and Data Science.

When an Abu Dhabi-based client approached them to predict engine failures for gas turbines, Narayana and his team decided to use IBM Watson to build them a prototype. “We had to build it from scratch. With the data collected we were able to commit to IBM SPSS Modeler, which made our work easy, and within 3 weeks, we could cover all the feature engineering processes and also try it on different models”, says Narayana. “The SPSS Modeler is directly connected to the client’s server network and the deployment process becomes easier. In terms of revenue, it saved around $50 million for the client and it was also a huge revenue for one of the quarters for Infosys.”

In another case, where they worked with a client named Sinchenta, the problem they had to extract text from tons of documents in multiple languages about seeds being provided to the farmers and the agriculture sector throughout the country. “We prepared excel or csv files, segmented it to the entities and then extracted text from the documents. We also integrated with the national languages understanding services of IBM. Thanks to IBM Knowledge Studio, we were able to get the work done in less than one-and-a- half months.”
